一位因开展业务，而在全国接触各色酒店的资深管理者对记者表示，酒店的经营必须要有多层面的经营基础作为支撑。简单说，当一个城市，仅仅依靠商务、贸易、金融、政治、旅游这之中的某一个板块来支撑酒店的发展经营，那酒店的经营就会比较困难。除非该城市具备多元化的特点，才能支撑一个城市里整个酒店行业的发展。
“在我国，北京是最具备多元化特点的一个城市，但北京高星级酒店的客房出租率依旧惨不忍睹。”他说，北京一标志性酒店正处在出售状态，作价35亿元，但至今仍未售出。而另一个北京的度假酒店，之前火爆到周末想订房都得挤破脑袋的程度，但现在该酒店的管理层只能拿到每月5000元的基本薪金。
另一个他掌握的信息是，在北京2014年APEC峰会期间，有一家外资高端品牌的酒店客房出租率只有25%。
事实上，更多的酒店选择了出售。

The hotel is situated in a really old shanty pocket of Shanghai, but conveniently close to Sichuan North Road commercial area (shopping) and the former art district (culture including Luxun Museum etc.) and lines 4 (SH railway station convenient) and 10(?); through the latter one may reach line 2 with ease. The hotel is suitably clean for a local establishment though many of the appliances and cupboards are functionally sub-par. I stayed 2 nights and the cleaning service never came even when I asked for it which was amazing as I think I was the only guest at the hotel that time. The front desk staff are constantly asleep or look annoyed when you ask them for things (ie. cleaning service or whatever). The TV had horrible static though the internet was pretty fast. Overall, this is a hotel with a lot of potential (old building with a lot of original structures), but suffers from bad housekeeping and unprofessional general management and staff training.
