今年六月，王府半岛酒店完成对老物业的翻新改造，以全新面貌登场。这家于1989年就已开幕的老酒店，一直是京城上流社交首选场所。在2006年，王府酒店更名为王府半岛酒店。此次历时一年的翻新项目成本高达8亿9千万元(1.23亿美金)，由著名香港设计师兼半岛酒店长期合作伙伴CAP Atelier的梁国辉在2013年确认方案。除了颇具皇家风范的设计，这项庞大的翻新工程到底翻新了什么?
酒店将原有的客房及套房共525间，数量缩减并改造至仅230间。新客房面积从60平方米起，为北京最宽大的酒店客房，并清晰划分了客厅和饭厅等区域。总数17间的套间每间面积达165平方米，由两间原套间合二为一而成，设有宽广的起居空间和用餐区，以及毗连主卧的偌大私人衣帽间。
现有的大堂被彻底改造，三层楼挑高的全新大堂拥有更多开放空间，亦为全球10家半岛酒店的招牌大堂设计。

The hotel is situated in a really old shanty pocket of Shanghai, but conveniently close to Sichuan North Road commercial area (shopping) and the former art district (culture including Luxun Museum etc.) and lines 4 (SH railway station convenient) and 10(?); through the latter one may reach line 2 with ease. The hotel is suitably clean for a local establishment though many of the appliances and cupboards are functionally sub-par. I stayed 2 nights and the cleaning service never came even when I asked for it which was amazing as I think I was the only guest at the hotel that time. The front desk staff are constantly asleep or look annoyed when you ask them for things (ie. cleaning service or whatever). The TV had horrible static though the internet was pretty fast. Overall, this is a hotel with a lot of potential (old building with a lot of original structures), but suffers from bad housekeeping and unprofessional general management and staff training.
